Fat Bastard Shiraz
Fat Bastard Shiraz 2002 ($10)
Cute label. Zero character, tastes like nothing. There are many more affordable, non-cartoon wines from Southern France. Take Louis Bernard Cotes du Rhone Villages, for example. Ten bucks, and character-full.

Their chard isn't any better, in my experience (and they do call it "Chardonnay" in an appeal to the American consumer - presumably the same reason it's "Shiraz" instead of "Syrah").

I Agree. This ain't the direction for French wines to go. Cute labels - yes; attempted new world-wine-fruitbombs - no.
