Funk Week: "You're Gonna Get Yours"
Public Enemy: Seminal political/social rap group began in the 80's with the album, "Yo! Bumrush the Show" (1987). Entered the basicJuice Funky Music Hall of Fame with the song, "You're Gonna Get Yours." Funky, loud, sonic, and punk/in-your-face style with smart rhymes:
"Understand - I don't drive drunk
My 98's fly - I don't drive no junk
No cop gotta a right to call me a punk
Take this ticket - go to hell and stick it
Put me on a kick butt - line up, times up
This government needs a tune up
I don't know what's happenin' - what's up
Gun in my chest - I'm under arrest"
Radical, visionary, and Funky. Check out PE's site, or listen to them on iTunes.

I remember being a 12 year old living in Springfield, MO and having this CD and then "Fear of a Black Planet" suburban white america listening to PE and NWA was a strange phenom. I had absolutely nothing in common with Chuck D. I guess it still is today although the path has already been paved. Now Flav is chasing Bridget Neilson around on MTV celebreality...

I remember mowing the lawn listening to "Fear of a Black Planet." I was shocked, yet drawn in. It opened my eyes to a perspective I never knew existed.
If you read PEs website, you'll find that Chuck is mighty apprehensive of Flav's reality show.
