WBW#26: "A Lick of Licorice"
Captain Spittoon -- Andrew -- offers up a plethora of adjectives with entry#18:
A lick of licorice, a splash of dark chocolate on the finish and a goodly amount of soft, dark fruits wrapped up in a herb encrusted while. medium-full bodied. Screw-capped. Alcohol 13.5% It’s lighter than I recall, probably from the increased Grenache component. Ciaran describes this being 'Rhone in style' - that it maybe with its herby flavours and similar grape varieties (55% Grenache, 33% old vine Carignan and 12% 'others') but it is the distinct richness that I enjoyed immensely - distinctly different than many a simple red.
Scribblings Rating - 90/100
I will glom on as the caboose and submit entry#19:
- Pale straw yellow in color
- A unique and enticing mixture of scents: herbal notes coupled to fresh pear, apple and citrus scents
- Very crisp, with high acidity balanced by fruit flavors and an unexpectedly rich finish
- A fine wine at a reasonable price. this wine is good-and-ready to drink now, but will more than likely evolve beautifully with 3-4 years' worth of maturation. Try it with chicken tikka masala.
