Aimee Mann
Ms. Mann will forever be in my memory as the first pierced nose I was ever 'exposed' to. Do you remember the 80s group, "Til Tuesday?" Or perhaps the song, "Voices Carry." She has done quite a bit since then. She contributed several songs (and some of her lyrics made it into the film's script) to the 1999 film "Magnolia" by Paul Thomas Anderson. The most striking song from this film is titled, "Deathly." Some lyrics:
Now that I've met you
would you object to
never seeing each other again
'cause I can't afford to
climb aboard you
no one's got that much ego to
spend
So don't work your stuff
because I've got troubles enough
no, don't pick on me
when one act of kindness could be
deathly, deathly
definitely
Her latest release is a live DVD from a recent New York concert. You can also download the audio portion from iTunes.
I've been lucky enough to see her in concert. She's a very talented musician. Have a listen to her music
