Odd Grape Week: Pino & Toi
[This was originally posted during the 1-5 blog visitor days of September.]
This wine comes from the Veneto region of Italy; located in the Northeast corner of the boot. Pino & Toi is not a DOC/G wine. Hence, Maculan created P&T in a non-traditional manner.
Pino & Toi is a blend of, well, two Pinots and a Toi! - Pinot Bianco
(Pinot Blanc) 25% - Pinot Grigio (Pino Gris) 15% - Tocai (Tocai
Friulano) 60%
The Skinny
Maculan Pino & Toi, '02 ($12)
- Origin: Veneto; Borough of Breganze to be exact
- A light straw colored white wine
- simple, fruity and, slightly spicy on the nose
- Viscous-y in the outh. It could use a bit more acidity to feel better balanced. Simple, light fruit flavors
- A fun and simple wine
**.5 (2.5 stars out of 5) - Due to the strength of the Euro, $9-10 wines are now ringing in at $12-$15...arghhh
