Riscal Rueda
2003 Marques de Riscal Rueda ($9)
Clear, pale lemon fading to a pale, greenish tinged watery rim. Clean, youthful, intense nose of creamy yellow apples, grapefruit and grass. Dry, with crisp acidity. Medium to full-bodied, with a viscous mouthfeel. Intense flavors of creamy citrus, tart peach and marzipan. Medium-high alcohol, with medium length. A good quality, inexpensive Rueda from the verdejo grape, likely blended with viura and sauvignon blanc. Drink now and over the next few years to maintain freshness.

With the interesting wines made from this grape it should be a much better known variety than it is at present. Give me Verdejo over a Reisling any day!
Marques de Riscal: according to available info, this is 85% Verdejo and 15% Viura (aka Macabeo).
Cheers,
Steve

whoa. Back up off my beloved Riesling :)
Actually, for the $10 price range, I agree, Rueda is hard to beat. I'm a big fan.

I had this wine at LV last weekend at ROBUCHUN. Although it was the cheapest glass wine on the menu yet the best taste for me.
I want to but this wine yet unable to find the shop in LA/Orange County area in CA. Anyone please help me out!
Thanks!
