2001 Alois Kracher Chardonnay "Number 3" ($43)
Clear, medium gold with high viscosity. Clean, intense, youthful nose of ripe stone fruits, dried peaches and a honeyed quality indicative of botrytis. Sweet, with medium acidity and full body. Intense palate similar to the nose, with honeyed pears and peaches. Low-medium alcohol, with long length. An excellent quality TBA chardonnay from Burgenland, this elegant dessert wine drinks well now, but has enough concentration to age up to 20 years.
