Castelmaure 2001: Opinions #3 & #4
Joanne & Jack, the Fork&Bottlers, weigh in on the Castelmaure dust-up:
Joanne's* tasting note: Alcohol and Italian sausage on the nose. Wine has a rustic fruity center with good acids and a light finish. A tiny bit of bitterness and some tannins on the finish. A really enjoyable wine right now. Great value. Try with a pot roast!
Jack's* note: We weren't getting brett on the nose, and we're pretty good at identifying that. This wine has not yet peaked, but I think that's just a couple of years away. Nothing not to like about this wine. It paired well with duck confit tonight.
*Caveat emptor - both had colds. But I think they're spot on.
The plot thickens. Maybe I'll have to try to get my hands on a bottle...
