Methusaleh! Methusaleh!
Methusaleh -
One really big bottle of Champagne or Burgundy. The three well known French wine regions of Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy, bottle wine in large formats. Magnum (1.5L), the equivalent of two standard sized 750ml bottles, is common in much of the wine world. Other sizes are less common. Methusaleh is the moniker for an 8x bottle (6L!) in Burgundy and Champagne.
Methusaleh -
Perhaps Harriet the Galapagos land tortoise should be nicknamed Methusalinah (after the biblical Methusaleh). She was collected in 1835 by some naturalist named Charles Darwin. At the time, she was already five years old. And now, at the grand age of 172, Harriet is still going strong. She made it to Australia in 1842 and has remained ever since. She now spends her days in the Australia Zoo nibbling on hibiscus flowers.
