West Coast Style
Alaska is about as far west as one can get without leaving the North American continent. I'm in Juneau this week, and I've learned a few things about the 'last frontier' of the U.S.:
- It's $%^&*ing Cold
- There are supersized ravens flying around and, from a distance, they sound like crazed drunks
- Public litter baskets are bear-proofed
- The isolation is palpable
- Halibut fish & chips + a yummy Spanish white wine (read Alder's review of the '03 here) are the perfect match..more on this wine to come
In the meantime, find out:
- What exactly are tannins?
- What does it mean when a wine is corked?
- Is carbonic maceration painful?
- Is this Bonarda the same as that Bonarda?
Finally, Farmers Markets are a good thing - they provide us with the chance to get crackin fresh produce AND they assist farmers in getting paid (so they'll actually be able to, you know, make a living). Support House Bill HR 710.
