WBW20: White Noise
April's WineBloggingWednesday theme is, "white wines other than Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling." Oh, and no blends are permitted - so no funny stuff. The event will be hosted at Wine for Newbies, a wine podcast blog. Of course, you might be tempted to grab a bottle of Gewurztraminer, Semillon or Pinot Grigio. However, allow me to suggest a few white grapes that are even further off the beaten path:
Grillo (Sicily)
Pedro Ximenez (Spain)
Vouvray Moelleux - it's an amazing expression of Chenin Blanc (France)
Pinot Blanc (a mutant clone!)
Kerner (Italy)
Savagnin (France)
Albarino (Spain)
Müller-Thurgau (Germany)
Scheurebe (Germany)
Morillon (OK it's really what the folks in southern Austria call Chardonnay, but no one has to know..)
If the Wine for Newbies podcast piques your interest, you might also be interested in Winecast and Grape Radio - two other winecentric podcast producers.
Can't say I have ever seen a Pedro Ximenez that was white though Beau...

Fairly sure that I have seen an Australian white table wine based on Pedro Ximenez Andrew. Might try and get hold of a bottle to review for this WBW.
