A little break in the wine action
The Andau Bridge
Starting with the first turmoils in summer 1956, more and more Hungarians fled to the western world over the border to Austria. Even though it was just a small, wooden bridge over a small river, the Bridge at Andau was the escape route for about 70000 Hungarian people during the Hungarian Revolution (Wikipedia).
Rust, Austria
Rust, near the shores of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland has a unique history. It earned (paid) the rights to become a free city under the Hungarian crown in 1681. Much of the pay-off dough was in the form of Ruster Ausbruch - the famous sweet wine of this region. And it has Storks!
